Yellow Chewy Tubes® :
- The narrowest Chewy Tube®
- For children – for those who show defensiveness to sensory input in the mouth
- For those with smaller mouths
- Typically for children 9 to 24 months or for adults with a small jaw; those recovering from stroke or from jaw surgery to preserve the masseter
- muscle for feeding skills
Red Chewy Tubes® :
- Has a wider bite able stem
- Intended for children 2 years and over
- Most children start with the yellow tube and move up to the red
- Adults who use the red version include those undergoing stroke rehabilitation exercises and post-stroke interventions as well as those undergoing post-radiation treatment of the jaw
Green Chewy Tubes® :
- Has bumps on the stem for additional oral input and tactile stimulation for the mouth
- Intended for users 3 years and over
Blue Chewy Tubes® :
- Largest and firmest of Chewy Tubes®
- Intended for adolescent- / adult-sized jaw
- Intended for those with developmental disabilities or those with Autism or those with sensory processing difficulties
WHAT ARE CHEWY TUBE?
- Chewy Tubes are innovative oral motor devices designed to provide a resilient, non-food, chew-able surface for practicing biting and chewing skills.
- Chewy Tubes have been designed to be used with the new Jaw Rehabilitation Program, a patented methodology offered by Speech Pathology Associates, LLC to develop jaw motion for biting and chewing skills.
- Chewy Tubes offer a safe, non-toxic surface for developing biting and chewing skills.
- Chewy Tubes are latex-free and lead-free. In addition, they do not contain PVC or phthalates.
- Chewy Tubes are available in 4 fun and attractive colours.
- Chewy Tubes colours are all FDA compliant and CE marked.
- The little bumps on the surface of Green Knobbly Chewy Tube provide tactile stimulation for the mouth.
- Red Knobbly Chewy Tube offers a slightly larger stem than the Yellow Knobbly Chewy Tube, providing a greater resistance.
- Blue Knobbly Chewy Tube provides the greatest resistance.
WHO CAN USE THEM?
- Chewy Tubes are offered to children and adults as a safe and effective tool for practicing biting and chewing skills.
- Therapists may select Chewy Tubes for use in treatment of individuals who are developing initial oral motor skills, or rehabilitating the jaw after surgery, trauma or stroke.
- Youngsters seeking additional proprioceptive input into the jaw may also like biting on Chewy Tubes.
- Children with autism require professional supervision when using Chewy Tubes.
